Book the Considered Bus for a private event — this means you and your guests experience an 'open bar' -like service. Great for both company and personal events.
Pay a booking fee to secure your day/time on our calendar, and we'll show up to serve your community. They'll pay for their own drinks. We partner with local businesses to pop up in unexpected places. This is a great option for retail, wellness studios, schools, and more.
We keep teams caffeinated, collaborative, and creative. Whether it be to celebrate hitting a major milestone, entertain out-of-town guests, or ensure everyone gets their daily fix, we'll come to your campus, and keep your workplace cool in a competitive hiring landscape.
We'd love to be the preferred coffee vendor at your large-scale event. Whether it's a music festival, city-sponsored celebration, race, or something else, we're used to working within the context of big operations.
You pay a flat fee upfront for an 'open bar' style service at your event. Think: everything is taken care of ahead of time, and you and your guests order + drink as much coffee as you'd like!

+ Our Bus (including the trailer) requires ~24 ft of length. Without the trailer, we need ~20 ft.
+ We need a *minimum* of 10 feet of depth to set up and serve comfortably.
+ We can squeeze into a single vertical parking space if needed, but prefer two.
+ If we are parking parallel to a sidewalk, we need 3 parking spaces, please.
We gotta be level! We learned this the hard way, and we'd rather you not have to. We have chocks we place beneath our wheels to level the bus, but it's always helpful if you can park us on a relatively flat surface.
We also appreciate being parked on a paved surface, whenever possible. Gravel is okay, sand and grass get a little tricky. Our old BUs doesn't have the horsepower for all-terrain navigation.
On that note, please keep in. mind that we're not able to jump a curb, so if this is necessary, please provide a ramp.
Why does this matter? Espresso shots pull better when the machine is level. Our drains don't work if the bus isn't level either, which creates unnecessary mess, and slows down service (because our team has to pause to clean up)
+ We serve out of the passenger-side of our Bus. Please consider this when placing us at your venue, or saving us a spot.
+ Our bus has a built-in awning that can. be pulled out to cover the service area. If you'd like us to bring our umbrella and stand, too, please ask!
+ We have a small (3x5ft) table that we usually set up in order to serve customers. If you'd like us to use a different table to match your decor, or bring a tablecloth to cover our table, please ask. Keep in mind that coffee is messy, so dark colors work best!
+ We do NOT have room for extra items on our table (think: food, flowers, posters/signage, etc.). We are micro!
Espresso machines need a whole lot of power. Whatever number you have in mind, triple it. Okay fine we'll tell you: our espresso machine requires 5600 watts for at least 8 hours (continuously).
So, we've got a generator that we tow behind us in a custom teardrop trailer. We require our generator to serve espresso-based drinks unless there is a 240v 30a outlet on-site. You can see our power requirements HERE.
We know our generator is not ideal. We continue to look into replacing it with an electric option. We pinky promise that we've done a lot of research on this topic, our needs, and potential solutions. So far, every solution we've looked into is either cost prohibitive (we're talking $42k) or insufficient (will not provide enough power for enough hours).
Our bus is a 1965 VW Type 3 Microbus. It has an air-cooled, 40 horsepower engine. It does not have power steering, airbags, or a gas gauge. It has windshield wipers but they don't work. It lived at least two full lives (that we know of) before finding it's way into our world.
All that to say: she's seen some shit. She came to us with some rust, more than a few bumps and bruises, many miles on the odometer, a few missing pieces (like the left mirror), and engine/breaks/axel well past its prime.
So naturally, we loaded it up with a few thousand pounds of espresso equipment, electrical work, and water tanks.
While we did work on the engine and breaks (and take it to our mechanic routinely for tune ups and improvements), replaced all the upholstery, window seals, and exterior paint, we also made the intentional decision to NOT restore our bus to showroom standards.
Why? We wanted to honor her history, and all that she saw before becoming the Considered Coffee Bus. Also, it's not realistic. Our Bus moves around, and we knew it was bound to earn a few more dents and dings on a day to day basis.
If you're looking for a pristine vintage vehicle that looks like it's been driven only a handful of times, we are NOT the vendor for you.
If you like the character and nostalgia of VW vehicles, think it's cool that it has a story, and understand that our team works incredibly hard to breathe new life into its legacy each day, we're a good fit.
We deep clean our bus weekly, in addition to daily cleans. We do most of the repairs ourselves.
However, we also proudly self-identify as "curbside." Our mission is to make third-wave coffee accessible and inclusive. We're blending high-brow hospitality standards with a low-brow experience, delivering you an excellent cup of coffee with latte art poured by our formally trained baristas...literally on the sidewalk. (Yes, we do pick up litter wherever we park)
Our appearance reflects this. For example, we use milk crates to both prop up essential supplies, and transport equipment in/out of the bus. We have peg boards that hand on our doors to house essential ingredients. We're short on space, so everything is a fine balance of form and function.
If you book us for an event and would like to make adjustments to the appearance of the bus, we're open to discussing!
